Overview

An Employer Sponsored Visa is a kind of work visa for those who have an Australian employer/company that wants to hire them. This visa allows you to work full-time on a temporary or permanent basis.

What can you do with an Employment Visa?

The main benefits of this visa are you can work full-time in your nominated position and have the chance to gain Permanent Residency after working. You are also able to include your family (spouse and child) in the application with you.

Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa (Subclass 482) 

The TSS Visa allows employers to address labour shortages by bringing in genuinely skilled workers where they cannot hire an appropriately skilled Australian. It is a temporary visa up to 4 years. TSS Visa holders can work in Australia in their nominated occupation for their approved sponsor under one of three streams:

  • the Short-Term stream
  • the Medium-Term stream
  • the Labour Agreement stream

Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) (subclass 186) visa

The ENS Visa is a Permanent Residence visa for skilled workers. It enables the applicant to work in Australia under one of three streams:

  • the Direct Entry stream
  • the Labour Agreement stream
  • Temporary Residence Transition Stream (TRT)

Basic Visa Requirements Checklist

You must:

  • have an occupation on the Medium- and Long-term Strategic Skills List
  • receive an IELTS (or equivalent test) score of 6.0 in each component
  • be less than 45 years old at the time of application

For direct entry:
You must:

  • obtain a valid skill assessment for your nominated occupation
  • have at least 3 years’ full-time work experience in your nominated occupation

For the TRT stream:
You must:

  • have worked full-time on your 482 Visa for at least 3 of the 4 years prior to applying for this stream
  • currently hold a 457 or 482 or a Bridging visa A, B or C

Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 494)

The 494 Visa is a temporary visa for skilled workers who have been nominated by their employer in regional Australia. This visa allows the holders to work and stay in regional Australia. It is a temporary visa up to 5 years and you can apply for the 191 Visa after 3 years of working and living in a regional area.

There are two streams:

  • Direct Stream
  • Labour Agreement Stream

Basic Visa Requirements

You must:

  • obtain a valid skill assessment for your nominated occupation
  • have at least 3 years’ full-time work experience in your nominated occupation
